Old McBuxton had a farm, E I E I...Oh, that’s not quite how my daughters would put it. I think they might say, "Dad lost his marbles!" So much for crazy talk, let’s go to what going on at Buxton’s Garden Farm. Where to begin? It has been a good year at Buxton’s Garden Farm and the fall crops look great. The farm has been blessed with plenty of rain, and timing has been perfect. The fall crops of flowers and pumpkins are coming into season, and this is my favorite time of year, with all the colors and cooler weather soon to come...and cooler weather soon to come. Anyway...
New for 2007 are the Illinois Herb Show, and Scare Crow Days on September 15th and the Mum Fest on September 22nd and 23rd. At the Illinois Herb Show, the Illinois Herb Association and Buxton’s Garden Farm will have planting and cooking demonstration classes throughout the day using annual and perennial herbs. Our scarecrow decorating contest starts on the same day. You can build a scarecrow and enter the contest until our Mum Fest opens. Hey, check this out: $50 first prize to the winner in adult and children's categories! On September 22nd and 23rd we are having our first Mum Fest. This year's theme is "Mum’s the Word". We will be having activities throughout both days for family fun, including some real people singing (my kids are praying that it won't be me). Buxton’s Garden Farm is still free admission to get in.
Enjoy the Fall Sincerely,
Steve
